A lot of sunshine, some strong winds and the cyclic rain showers – spring in Northern
Tasmania (and did I mention grass that grows as you watch it?).
Last week, and the one before, Rotary undertook RYDA (driver education for years
nine and ten students of northern Tasmanian secondary colleges/schools.) I believe
about 1000 students attend over the 10 days. Although members from other clubs
were involved, the SLRC provided the bulk of the resources and volunteer management. Well done Rotarian Melissa for organising the catering and the other SLRC
Rotarians who volunteered, helping to make RYDA a successful event.
On Thursday 5th November we will be having a partners’ (and families night) at the
Grand Chancellor. Please note this in your diary and encourage your spouse and
family to attend. A big roll up will help to maintain the enthusiasm for a regular program of partner/family events.
On a final note, the club regrets the passing of PDG Tony Colman. A person known
to many at SLRC, particularly longer standing members. Vale PDG Tony Colman –
Hope you see you at this Thursday’s dinner meeting.
