Last week two of our newest Rotarians, Hayley Bartels and Catherine Quarrell  addressed our meeting under the banner of “The Rotarian Behind the Badge”. Hayley spoke first. She was born on Christmas Eve in Launceston. Shortly after, her family moved to Sydney, as her dad was in the navy. In 1999 they returned to Launceston and Hayley attended Mayfield Primary School and the Brooks High School. She became a Girl Guide and travelled to Hong Kong on an exchange program. Hayley said that she loves travel and adventure. She undertook a travel and tourism course. Some of the adventure activities she has experienced include bungy jumping, caving, abseiling and parachuting. She also likes riding motor bikes. She has travelled to Abu Dhabi; Auckland, New Zealand; London, England; Dubai and Paris France. She has a young daughter. Sadly, at the end of her talk she announced to the club that, due to a change in family circumstances, she will be moving to Adelaide, so her short time in our club is coming to an end. We wish her well in this new phase in her life.
