Hello Rotarians, I’m sorry that I couldn’t be with you last Thursday night’s dinner meeting. I had a commitment on the east coast at the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council – a nice part of our island. Most of you would know I’m an engineer and so it goes without saying that I like facts. So something different this week. Did you know that: ..Rotary was formed in 1905 ..Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’ ..Rotary has 1.22 million members around the world spread over 35,000 clubs (these clubs are located in 200 countries and territories across the world.) ..Our club is in the ‘9830’ District (which covers all of Tasmania). There are 47 clubs in the 9830 District. ..There are 529 Districts covering the world. (Remember this as there could be a prize involved.) ..Our 9830 District is in the Oceania Zone 8 that covers the whole off Australia, New Zealand, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. And our video ‘People of Action’ won 2nd prize in the Zone!! I think that might be enough facts. It goes you show that Rotary has large presence across the globe. Hope to see you at Thursday’s dinner meeting. President Harry
