Programs | Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for outstanding young people between 18 and 28 years of age. It is run and organised by the District and is conducted over a one week period.

Each program is designed to provide lifetime leadership skills for young people, adapted to local needs. Typical issues covered are: the growth and development of self esteem; personal development; stress and self management; personal motivation; communication; time management and goal setting; leadership styles; problem solving and conflict management. There is also 'time out" for team recreational activities and time to get to know other participants.

Since it became an official Rotary program in 1971, RYLA has assisted thousands of young people to develop leadership skills at camps, seminars, and workshops.

Most Rotary districts in the world sponsor a RYLA program each year and thousands of young people take part in the program worldwide. RYLA is an intensive training program for young community leaders.

Those chosen for their leadership potential attend an seminar to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. It is an invaluable personal and professional development program.
