Thank you for attending another great meeting. Our guest speaker Marie Bird spoke to us about Samaritans Purse. This organization sends a shoe box at Christmas time to under privileged children overseas. You can access more information at www.samaritanspurse.org.au.
The club has taken 30 boxes and will cover the postage cost of $9. I have an absolute swag of exercise books, rulers, rubbers and coluring pencils which I had donated to me. I will bring them on Thursday evening.
I would like to remind all Rotarians that any correspondence is to be sent to me and the board that involves either a personal nature or the club - for example if you are wanting to organise a function or you think there is a community project you would like us to be involved in.
Ian Fraser will be talking to us on Thursday night about his trip to Havana, should be an interesting night. (cigars Ian )
Thursday 29th is "Bring a friend " and the Rotaract club will be doing a presentation.
The Board has decided that we will cover the cost of 1 Guest per person. We are hoping to show off our club this night so please get busy and start inviting you never know your guest could be our next new member.
The Board also discussed having a Family Christmas picnic rather than having our last meeting at the hotel, more information will come at a later date.
The PR and Fundraising team have invited all members to a social evening at Wangs Chinese restaurant on George St. DATE Tuesday 4th October TIME 6pm for 6.30 start - partners are included and the cost is $30 per head. Drinks are extra. I did mention we pay an extra $10 but this is deemed as a social event outside of Rotary and not a fundraiser.
I received an email from District about the Rotary leadership program and to date the north and northwest have had a poor response. New Rotarians should take the time to book in this worth while coarse as it not only gives you an insite into Rotary but is great networking.
