Last week I had the honour of inducting Wayne Higgs into our club - I know that he is going to enjoy his time in Rotary and will be a valuable member. It is now every Rotarian's duty to show Wayne what we are about and give him a guiding hand.
We also enjoyed hearing Lillian Wong from the Stroke Foundation talk to us. Lillian was a very entertaining guest speaker and we all now know what to look out for if you or someone you know is having a stroke F.A.S.T = Face, Arms, Speech, Time.
I also mentioned very briefly about the NYSF and how a young lady Nicola Potter from Launceston College is seeking sponsorship. The student will go to Canberra in January and the cost is $3000. The club will sponsor Nicole $1500 the rest Nicola will fund raise herself, she will also be invited to the club before and after the event. Henk Kortekass is interviewing her this week and will outline our requirements to her and the family.
I have just received an email from Lydia Nuttall. Lydia will be resigning from her role as Bulletin Editor at the end of October. Lydia has just received confirmation from Griffith University where she will be completing an accelerated Honours level in Marketing. It is wonderful to see people of any age better themselves and I wish her all the best.
We will of course be looking for a new Bulletin Editor so please don’t be shy and put up your hand.
There is a board meeting this Thursday night.
The Open Garden at Judith and Neville King's has been postponed until next year, please keep growing those plants.
Our Fundraising/Social team are gearing up for a few events, please try and support them wherever you can.
