President Glenda’s Notes 5 July 2016

Tuesday, 05 Jul 2016

Thank you for welcoming me to the Presidency. I appreciate the trust that you
have all placed in me. I am honoured to be your second female president, and proud to belong to a club where women are treated in a Rotarian way – with respect.

First I would like to acknowledge Past President Les Baxter and Barbara. Our
club enjoys the fellowship that happens every Thursday evening. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes with the committee and board members.  Having heard your report on the work of the Board and committees I
congratulate you on behalf of the Club for a very successful year. We have grown in size with increased memberships and the club has been richly awarded for this as each new member brings new skills and a depth of community knowledge as well as a commitment to Rotary.

 Thank you.

Barbara, on behalf our members I would like you to accept these flowers
acknowledgement for the part you played during Les’s presidential year.

I would like to also thank my husband Geoff who without him I would not be
who I am today. Always encouraging and making me believe in myself. Then my darling daughters Mallory and Katie both these girls are wonderful capable young ladies and great sounding boards for all my crazy ideas and speeches. Shoot for the moon even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.

I would also like to thank Dennis Tulk for all his work helping to get our Change-
 over report to you all.

We now turn to the Rotary year.
Our theme for the year which was presented by RI President John F Germ is
Rotary Serving Humanity. President Germ quoted  “We need more willing hands, more caring hearts, and more bright minds to move our work forward”

Our new District Governor Gerard Blizzard and Fiona are also looking forward to a wonderful Rotary year and it has been wonderful getting to know them.

My plan for the Rotary year is to engage all our members. We are a special club and part of this is due the many senior members who are full of great ideas and offer great support. Use them wisely.  It will be great to focus on club projects that involve us working within the community whilst enhancing public image and awareness.

I am also planning a program that will educate and re educate members about Rotary. This is about discovering what Rotary is about and what each committee does. It will involve a short presentation once a month where Paul Billett will talk to us about our responsibilities and involvement and the sense of fellowship that participating actively with Rotary brings everybody.  If Paul is not available a Board member will talk about their projects to give an insight into their committee's role.

Fiji was a successful project for the Club.  We will once again look into an International Project.

Fundraising will also involve the club as a whole.

I would now like to introduce you to the incoming Board and I ask them to stand up.
