Thursday evening I had the pleasure of presenting Diana Butler with a cheque for $1000 to assist with Care for Africa Breakfast Program . This program will assist with given children a healthy start to the day. Many studies have found that children who eat breakfast before school have better concentration and are twice as likely to preform in the class room.
We also welcomed visiting Rotarian Howard Bridgman from the Rotary club of Newcastle Enterprise. Rotarian Howard will be visiting Launceston regularly as his daughter completes her studies.
As a club we were engaged with our guest speaker Danielle Blewett from St Giles.
Danielle spoke to us about the needs and desires of St Giles. The support and care they give to their clients is amazing. Danielle also educated us on what NDIS is about and many rotarians had a few question for Daniellle at the end of her presentation.
Danielle also mentioned Balfour Burn which is being held on 9th October, perhaps we could get a team together to challenge this hill and raise the profile of St Giles and our club.
I would like also to say it was a pleasure to see Geoff Lean attend our meeting and thak you Ian Smith for keeping in contact with Geoff.
