President Glenda’s Notes - 25th January 2018

Tuesday, 30 Jan 2018

Fellow Rotarians,

Last week  was our first official Back to Rotary  Night. The night was wonderful in that we all had so much news to catch up on. We also enjoyed a great buffet meal and to top off the evening  we listened  to  Rotarian  Di Butler  educate us more about Care for Africa and what this dynamic team achieved on their last trip. I also on a personal level learnt a little more about Samuel whom our whole family will be supporting. NJ

Thank you  to the wonderful team of volunteers  that took time out of their Sunday to help at the Country Club Casino Red Hot Summer Concert. It was hot work and the compliments  from the patrons and the hugs we recieved not to mention the few tips made it worth the effort of keeping the toilets clean.

This Thursday night  is our AGM and if any Rotarians  would like to take up a position  on the board and also take up a Directors  roll please do not hesitate to put your name forward. I for one can only speak in glowing terms of my time as Secretary  of 2 years  and President  for 2 years as being very interesting  and rewarding. I have met some interesting  people and made some wonderful friends as well as having a greater understanding of what Rotary acheives.

I will not be at our meeting on  the 1st of  February  due to a family birthday. Thursday 8th of February  is club forum night and our first board meeting  for the year. Bjork will give her presentation  on Thursday  22nd February.

The weekend of the February  3rd and 4th is  a busy time for us as we will be at Festivale  and  The Wooden Boat Festival.

Enjoy your time and remember  to slip, slop and slap.

Our outbound  student  Shannon  Evans  arrived  in  Japan safely and will keep our club updated with news during her 12month stay.

We are very lucky to have such wonderful young ladies  in our Club as Bjork is thoroughly  enjoying  her time here and attempting to do things she has never done before. On Tuesday  Rotarians  Karen and Josh De Groot  took Bjork stand up paddle boarding and the smile on her face when she got home said it all, no words needed.

This Australia  Day Rotarian Steve Gordon  and  Leonie  will once again have Bjork for a few days and we look forward  to  seeing  some photos as she is introduced to what Australia day festivities are all about.

Yours in Rotary

President Glenda Iles
