Thank you to all those Rotarians that attended last week’s club forum. We had a great turn out and I received some very positive feedback.
As I stated at the forum, feedback from all members is essential. Please if anyone has a suggestion or comment positive or negative send an email or pop your feedback in the badges box in a sealed envelope for Secretary Krista who can then pass this onto the board.
During the forum we discussed a need for future Presidents and throughout the evening we had a Rotarian show their interest for the year 2019/2020. This is of course not set in stone as we have to vote at the AGM but it is still heart warming to see Rotarians step up for future rolls and to ensure our future as a great club.
We also discussed the National Anthem, should we keep it or not? I will be asking for a show of hands this Thursday night. Interestingly at PETS I spoke to a few incoming Presidents and asked them if they sang the anthem and I was surprised how many don't. This will be a club decision. I also had a discussion with a few newer Rotarians about committees and from this discussion I discovered that I need to get each committee to work together. To kick this off we will start with a casual get together with all those on the Youth Committee and we will put a plan forward for what this committee would like to achieve during the Rotary year and which members are going to help achieve this goal. I will then go to each director and ask them to set a casual date for their committee members to do the same. I believe that then we can achieve a sense of belonging.
PETS was a great learning curve for me and I came away with a deeper understanding about a Presidents role. There are a few rods in the fire for the next incoming year and I look forward to sharing them with you in July. As for now I need to make sure we keep going forward during my reigning months until I take over again. I am excited for what is coming in the next 16 months. Regards, President Glenda
