A great start to the week. The guys were busy at Benham collecting sheep pooh, it looks like they had a fine day for it and it was wonderful to see new Rotarian Lance giving a helping hand.
Thursday night was a great night for discussion and it was also fantastic to see new members joining in and giving some input.
Rotarian Lara mentioned a few key points which I have noted:
- We need volunteers as they have great ideas, like to be fullfilled and help us to get results
- Rotary has a good reputation, we need to market ourselves more
- Link our club with another non for profit organisation as this will establish a great connection.
Rotarians asked us to consider having a few social functions especially for newer members as this is a great way for them to get to know us a little better.
Rotarians also mentioned that we need to fly the South Launceston Rotary flag more within the community.
Rotarian Ian Smith mentioned PCYC and that perhaps being their major sponsor would involve us more with their organization.
Rotarian Les Grant spoke about some fund raising ideas such as a coin drive in the Mall and maybe raising some funds for the LGH who are in need of a new robotic machine.
The club is also going to hold an afternoon of Jazz at Sharman's in November .
I have been in contact with Rotaract and if all goes to plan they will join us for an informal evening in September.
Thank you all for filling out the survey that I left at the tables, this gives an insight into what new members categories we need to fill.
Please also remember to propagate any plants that you have in your garden for the Open Garden day to be held at Rotarian Judith and Neville's home next month. Also if anyone has any homemade produce to sell but remember to add an ingredient label.
I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday night and once again I wiil leave you with a quote.
I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot, together we can do great things.
